The Council of Angels Part II

And it came to pass that seven mighty angels, Lords of Creation, appeared before the throne of God—He who is unknowable, mysterious, ineffable, and beyond all comprehension. This was the second time the Council sought advice from the creator regarding how to deal with human beings who abuse their powers by harming others.

And the first mighty angel, he who speaks on behalf of the others, spoke boldly. Now this was not arrogance or presumption on his part. He just knew from past experience that God was going to begin by having him review all that has gone before in order to reach the bottom line and get to the point of the discussion.

And so the Lord of Creation reviewed what he understood the main issues to be. He said, “You have given human beings, all of them, air to breathe. You have given them water to drink, food to eat, fields to cultivate, seas to fish, a sun that produces light and heat by day and a moon that shines by night that also regulates the tides. You have given them all the wealth of the physical world that they might make shelter, produce goods and works of enduring value.

“You have given them a mind that they might study, evaluate, research, and formulate science and advance in their technologies. You have given them a heart so that they might learn to work with each other in love, cooperation, and harmony.

“You have given so much and in such a free manner. Previously, we discussed what to do with those who abuse their powers and seek to harm others. We decided to slowly take away from them what they have until eventually, inevitably, they learn to appreciate the simple things of life—like breath, heartbeat, and the delights of the five senses. And this approach is according to the law of Saturn—that few appreciate fully what they have been given until it is taken away from them.

“And yet this is not enough. Still, many persist in harming others even at the cost of self-destruction and annihilation.

“After reviewing the entirely of human history including the incarnations and teachings of the great world teachers, it appears that the spiritual world is extremely limited in our ability to offer remedies to human conflicts.

“I imagine you saying, ‘We could have ordered this teacher or that teacher, by our illumination, to give men the recipe that would eliminate small pox from the earth. Or, we could have given them the means to overcome all disease and attain immortality. Or we could have had a prophet record our message detailing how to create a constitutional, representational government beaded on separation of powers.

“‘But in each case, though such treasures are of immense value, they would do far better if they invented those things for themselves. In that way, they would be invested in the process and actually appreciate the value of what they had. They would have nurtured and protected these things. Having invented science, they would not be willing to give it back and to return to their ages of darkness and religious superstition. They are already on the edge of discovering how to heal any disease and attain immortality without our revealing the means.’”

Interrupting, God (who is ineffable, unknowable, mysterious, and beyond all understanding) said, “This is all very nice. I appreciate you showing me respect by demonstrating that you and I see things in a similar way and are on the same page. And that is not always easy to do.

“As I gaze into your mind and as you gaze into mine, it has become clear in studying their history—age after age, civilizations rising and falling over and over, and still they learn nothing, nothing at all. They still abuse each other. For example, their United Nations Security Council members are as twisted in their thinking and as selfish in their motivation as the members of any street gang or drug cartel.

“And so in response to your inquiry I give unto you a new commission. Not just to bless life in every conceivable way and to insure that every true vision of the heart is fulfilled.

“Hear now: Go forth and do as I myself do from time to time. I appear in their dreams at night. I whisper in their ears in the guise of a still, quiet voice. Tell those who have the ears to hear to fill the earth with justice as water covers the seas. And not only this. Tell them that it is time that they form their own spiritual judicial system. Tell them to assume the authority and power of Saturn to require that all those who hold power over others seek justice at all costs and to find a point of harmony amid any conflict.”

The first mighty angel was about to ask for clarification. But God, metaphorically speaking, raised his index finger to silence him. God then spoke and said, “As an enticement, you may offer to them this one further gift: the experience of being one with any other being, with any spirit, and also with myself. In this way, utilizing divine empathy, they will be able to unite mind to mind, heart to heart, and soul to soul in any moment with any other person on earth.

“For is it not the first law of creation, ‘You are free to join as one with any other being in the universe in order to fulfill the purposes of love?’”

At this point, the first angel was slightly taken aback. Because he could not tell if his next thoughts were his own or God speaking in his mind. He heard as if he said it himself, “In this way, those human beings who wish for it shall join the void and absolute detachment of Saturn that oversees the unfolding of all karma with the oneness of a perfect lover.

“Karmic consequences will be accelerated for those who abuse their powers until on earth injustice is no longer an element in the learning process.

“Get back to me on how that works out,” said God.

“Yes, we will,” replied the first angel, the Lord of Creation.

A Council of Angels, Part I

And seven mighty angels, lords of creation, stood before the throne of the Creator. And their spokesman steps forward and says, “Almighty,  maker of heaven and earth, you who are beyond all understanding, ineffable and shrouded in mystery; you for whom all the stars and galaxies are but a faint echo of your joy and glory, hear our petition.

“With have a problem that resists solution. This interferes with our commission to bless all beings, to insure their lives are fulfilled, to grant them opportunities to attain to their highest paths in life, and to decide what part they wish to play in the unfolding of the universe.”

   The Creator says, “Go on.”

The angel explains, “The problem is that with some whom we bless they convert the blessing to a dark purpose. We give the ability to understand others and to negotiate fair and just agreements, but this gift only makes them arrogant. They use their heightened insight to dominate and to make others’ choices for them. They feel the gifts they are given are owed to them and that they should have been given more right from the beginning.

“If we offer them wealth and abundance, they waste it on selfish pursuits. If we give them the ability to love, they use their empathy to enchant others so they submit to them. If we give them purposes to fulfill that produce things of value that endure through all ages of the world they produce instead weapons of war. There is no end to their greed. They live as if their will is the only thing that is real. They set aside no time to celebrate the divine, the beauty of the universe, or the joy of being alive.

“Consequently, our attempts to bless them and to fulfill their lives result in failure. We would humbly ask for a few suggestions.”

And the Creator, who sits upon a throne that exists neither in space nor in time but rather is beyond, replies, “Did I not create the blue sky?”
And the angel replies, “Yes, you did.”
And the Creator asks, “Why did I do so? I could have left above the earth darkness and clouds of dust and ash, or else impenetrable mists of dissolving acids.”
And the angel replies, “You created the sky by day so that in one single glance men might see that regardless of the raging storms of life, regardless of being surrounded by death on all sides, and regardless of the horrors that pursue them from the moment they are born, the mind itself is open, pure, and clear.”
“Is that it?” asks the Creator with a tone of voice implying the angel is missing the main point.
And angel, good at improvisation, replies, “And, in contemplating the sky that embodies freedom and the enlightened mind, there shall come a time when each man shall find the universe reflected inside of him.”
And the Creator asks, “Did I not create the sky by night filled with countless stars?”

  And the angel replies, “Yes.”

  And the Creator asks, “Why?”

And the angel replies, “So that in one single glance men might perceive that the mind is infinite.”

  The Creator says, “And?”

The angel replies, “And if they persist in contemplation, perceiving without thoughts intervening, they shall sense a great stillness embracing the universe in which the beginnings and ends of all things are united in peace and harmony.

And the Creator asks, “Did I not create the oceans and the seas encircling the earth?”

And the angel says, “Yes, you did.”

And the Creator asks, “Why do you suppose I did so? I mean, I could have placed the earth outside the goldilocks zone so that it was either too hot or too cold to have liquid water on its surface encircling the planet.”

And the angel says, “So that in one single glance men might behold in front of them extending from horizon to horizon a love that has nurtured life on earth for billions of years. In its very essence it gives without asking for anything in return. All embracing and with infinite receptivity, it seeks to fulfill any being’s deepest dreams and the visions hidden within their hearts.”

And the Creator asks, “How is that going?”

And the angel replies, “Not good. They glance a lot at the sea but the love that it embodies is not yet one of their discoveries.”

And the Creator asks, “Why do you suppose that is?”

And the angel replies, “When they can create love through force of concentration so that it emanates from their own bodies filling the space around them for miles, then truly they will awaken and perceive that the oceans of the earth and the sun that shines down upon it emanate a love that extends to the ends of the universe.”

And the Creator asks, “Did I not create mountains, trees, forests, plants, hills, and plains?”

  And the angel replies, “Yes.”

And the Creator says, “Why would I bother to do that? Does it not strike you that the earth with its material forms that change and fade away are separate from what is celestial and spiritual and so not worthy of serious attention or investigation?”

And the angel replies, “You created matter in its densest form so that men might have material to build a home where love, light, and life are celebrated in the ordinary moments of the day when they gather to eat, share, and sleep.”

And the Creator says, “There must be more to it than that.”

The angel responds, “Lightning is in the heartbeat, winds in the breath, seas in the bloodstream, minerals and the densest matter are part of the body supporting and sustaining consciousness. By being aware of the physical body, they shall realize that the forces unfolding the universe are within and a part of them.”

And the Creator asks, “Why did I create a void so empty the density is less than one hydrogen atom per cubic meter and the temperature is just above absolute zero?”

And the angel responds, “So that any intelligent being in one glance at this darkness that lies between the stars might comprehend what it is to be absolutely and totally receptive--to be consciousness without form or image, without space or time to give it definition.”

  The Creator says, “And?”

The angel replies, “And, in that moment of complete detachment, to perceive the infinite possibilities that surround us. In so doing, to create something worthy, something glorious and magnificent filled with awe and wonder, as a small token of appreciation for the beauty of the universe in which we exist.

The Creator asks, “Anything else going on here with this void?”

And angel replies, “Yes. When things go wrong each being that possesses intelligence and consciousness might know how to return to the beginning and in so doing to restore life to what it is meant to be.”

And God said, “Why have I commissioned you to bless men?”

And the angel replies, “Because it is the essence of your being to bless all things, to see that life is fulfilled in every conceivable way. You offer to men the opportunity to choose a destiny so they become like you possessing the ability to make all things new.”

And then the Creator says, “Now what would you suppose might be the best thing to do if when you bless men your blessings they refuse?”

And the angels replies, “Take away one by one the things they have until they reach the point where they are grateful simply to be alive and to have little things—like heartbeat, breath, their five senses, their ability to feel, to think, to love, and to share. Then they will be ready to begin again their lives without corrupting the deepest purposes of life.”

And the angels asks, “But if they still refuse choosing to persist in their desire to dominate and harm others, what then?”

And the Creator says, “Then give them what I myself am: an infinite void that can create an entire universe in order to share love and that is equally content in being absolutely nothing.”

“Let them then make their own choice whether they wish to be like me--nothing at all--or else to discover everything life can be.

“The creative void that I am is within every sense perception, every form of substance and energy, and in every thought and feeling. There is no end to my being or my originality.

“As I have always said and which the planets and constellations proclaim, ‘Life is a gift. Use it well. Satisfy your desires and meet your needs. Fulfill your dreams. But for each man there shall come a day of reckoning--through the choices he makes he shall shape his fate, whether to create without limitation or give his attention to his ego which is destined to fade.’”

And the angel asks, “Is this confrontation with the consequences of their actions something we should make happen sooner or later?”

And the Creator says, “Use your own discretion. Sometimes to solve a problem you have to create an original solution. But my suggestion to you is that when it comes to learning from experience, sooner is better than later.

“One other thing. Encourage them to ask the right questions as I have encouraged you.”
